This spreadsheet has been prepared to calculate the section properties of a riveted plate girder. Section properties of a riveted plate girder to BD 56/10 and BS5400-3:2000 with facility to allow for corroded elements.
Section properties of a riveted plate girder based on BS 5400 Part 3:2000 and BD 56/10: Gross section properties assume no reduction for rivet holes. Effective (net) section properties allow for rivet holes. The number of holes in the tension zone may be adjusted by trial and error by referring to the depth to the neutral axis. Warnings are given if the depth to the hole is in the compression zone of the effective plastic modulus; these values are then removed.
The effective web thickness t is used for determining the net section properties. Shear lag effects are not included as they are only needed for serviceability checks. If shear lag effects are required then the effective flange widths will need to be calculated manually before entering them into the spreadsheet.

Effective Span of Plate Girder with no Bearing
The effective span and maximum bearing pressure for a plate girder with no specific bearing is calculated in accordance with BD 56/10 clause 16 and Figure 16. 1A
Section Properties of Voided Irregular Sections by Co-ordinate Geometry
This Proforma calculates the section properties, using co-ordinate geometry, of an irregular shaped cross section containing voids.
Section Properties of Solid Irregular Sections by Co-ordinate Geometry
This Proforma calculates the section properties of an irregular shaped cross section by co-ordinate geometry.
Preliminary Design Of Prestressed Concrete Bridge Girder
This spreadsheet performs preliminary analysis of a precast prestressed bridge girder at the prestress transfer and service stages.
